ABOUT THE ARTIST

BACKGROUND

Mone't Symone, better known as Mone't Hawkins, was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, widely known as the Queen City and the birthplace of great musicians like Sunshine Anderson, K-Ci & JoJo, Horace Brown, and Anthony Hamilton. The songs of Lauren Hill, Erykah Badu, Tink, Jhené Aiko, Beyoncé, Summer Walker, and India Arie were some of Mone't's main musical influences.

Following in the footsteps of such vocal trailblazers, the gifted young vocalist won several local talent competitions until Levert Entertainment awarded her a recording contract when she was just 13 years old. She made the decision to complete her education before pursuing a singing and songwriting career.

The truth and rights message and revolutionary sound of the iconic Lauren Hill and Indie Arie, supported by the deep harmonies of Erykah Badu, ignited Monet Symone's interest in modern music as a young person throughout the 1990s, the newly emerging year of the internet in America.

Monet Symone, a singer-songwriter, creates a distinctive kind of hip and conscious music that uplifts and inspires reality by fusing silky R&B vocals and lovely soulful harmonies with modern and world-beat rhythms.
